It sucks being appraised.
Everyone has to do it at my workplace every 2 years. My interview is tomorrow. The program is not 'scary' or daunting, and I can see why its necessary, but its time consuming and in many ways as dishonest as any other attempt to "grade" employee's (or students for that matter).
Moral: FIGHT THE POWER. Don't submit to appraisals and don't give them. Get to know your staff or have good systems in place to keep them (and yourself) honest.
That's my view: agree or disagree?
Peace is constructed, not fought for.

your lucky we have ours every six months I got no increment and about 40/100 score sigh....

My last appraisal I was told I'm a certified smart ass.
The follow day I had to sign a formal warning regarding some poorly executed paperwork unrelated. I told them to get someone who gives a shit to sign it.
To be honest.. It's their game and you can't make up the rules without consequences.

In my work the appraisal is the hard crunchy shell you have to chew through to get to the sweet sticky centre a.k.a. the salary review!
